Indians' slump reaches seven

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Ichiro Suzuki, Jamie Moyer and Edgar Martinez all did what they do best.
Suzuki had four hits, Moyer pitched seven innings and Martinez set another DH record as the Seattle Mariners sent the Cleveland Indians to their season-high seventh straight loss, 7-3, Wednesday night.
Martinez hit his 236th homer as a designated hitter, passing Harold Baines as the career leader among DHs.
"This record is not like Pete Rose or anything," said Martinez, who has 301 lifetime homers. "It's nice when it happens, but anybody can do it."
Mariners manager Bob Melvin said there are few like Martinez.
"Edgar gets accolade after accolade and deserves them," he said. "To me, he's a Hall of Famer, no question. He's as quality a right-handed hitter as I've ever seen."
Sabathia roughed up
Suzuki and Raul Ibanez also homered as the Mariners roughed up C.C. Sabathia (2-3). The Cleveland lefty gave up a career-high 11 hits in 62/3 innings.
"C.C. was up in the zone a bit and just wasn't able to find it tonight," Indians manager Eric Wedge said.
Victor Martinez and Travis Hafner hit consecutive homers in the ninth inning for Cleveland. Casey Blake connected earlier for the Indians.
Suzuki is hitting .410 (41-for-100) in May, reaching base safely in every game during the month and in 24 straight overall. He's batting .332 for the season.
"In April, you get so excited to play the game that your body can't catch up," Suzuki said. "In May, you have a month behind you, things come together and you get good balance."
Moyer effective
Moyer (3-2) kept the Indians off balance with his usual assortment of breaking pitches. The 41-year-old gave up one run and four hits over seven innings in winning his second straight start.
"It helps when you get ahead in the count," said Moyer, who didn't walk a batter and struck out five.
The lefty has allowed only one run over his last 14 innings after a five-start winless streak in which he went 0-1 with a 5.28 ERA.
Moyer retired the first 10 batters. Blake's shot in the seventh was the 14th homer allowed by Moyer this season, most in the AL.
Blake raps fifth
"He's a tough guy to get going against," said Blake, who hit his fifth homer and second in two nights. "He mixes up his pitches so well and really keeps you off balance."
Eddie Guardado relieved with two on and no outs in the ninth, and struck out the side for his eighth save.
Seattle took a 1-0 lead in the third when Randy Winn singled, Suzuki doubled and Martinez had an RBI groundout.
In the fifth, Winn sliced a triple and Suzuki followed with a single for a 2-0 lead.
Ibanez led off the sixth with his eighth homer. Suzuki hit his third home run in the seventh, and Jolbert Cabrera had a two-run double later in the inning.
