Twins 4, Devil Rays 2
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Jacque Jones had a go-ahead, two-run double and Minnesota snapped Tampa Bay's longest winning streak in four seasons. Starter Seth Greisinger (2-3) allowed two runs and six hits over five innings, and Jones gave the Twins a 3-2 lead in the fifth. Terry Mulholland, Juan Rincon, J.C. Romero and Joe Nathan combined for four scoreless innings of relief for Minnesota. Jose Cruz Jr. hit a two-run triple for the Devil Rays, who had won five straight.
Red Sox 9, Athletics 6
BOSTON -- Jason Varitek hit a three-run homer and Boston took advantage of Bobby Crosby's error to beat Oakland. Derek Lowe (4-4) allowed five runs and nine hits in six innings, leading the Red Sox to their fifth straight win and ninth in 11 games. Varitek's eighth homer of the year in the sixth made it 9-5 one inning after Eric Chavez's 12th homer, a three-run shot, had cut the lead to 6-5.
Blue Jays 6, Angels 5
TORONTO -- Vernon Wells and Gregg Zaun hit run-scoring singles in the ninth inning off Troy Percival. Percival blew a save for the fourth time in 16 chances. Terry Adams (4-3) pitched two shutout innings for the Blue Jays, who had lost four of their previous five games. Carlos Delgado and Wells homered for Toronto. Wells extended his hitting streak to 17 games. Shane Halter's two-run homer put Anaheim ahead in the third.
White Sox 4, Rangers 0
CHICAGO -- Esteban Loaiza allowed two hits and struck out nine in eight innings for Chicago. Loaiza (6-3) struck out Alfonso Soriano in the fourth inning for his 1,000th career strikeout. Miguel Olivo and Frank Thomas hit solo homers for Chicago and Carlos Lee drove in two runs.
Yankees 12, Orioles 9
BALTIMORE -- Gary Sheffield went 4-for-5 with a homer and six RBIs, and New York handed Baltimore its sixth straight loss. In a wild game that featured 30 hits, five home runs and a 65-minute rain delay, the Yankees blew a 7-3 lead by allowing six runs in the sixth, then rallied against the Baltimore bullpen in the seventh. B.J. Surhoff and Melvin Mora homered for the Orioles.
Royals 7, Tigers 3
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Matt Stairs and Mike Sweeney hit two-run homers for Kansas City. Sweeney, who hit his fourth homer in eight games, also had two singles and scored three runs for the Royals.

Marlins 3, Reds 0
CINCINNATI -- Tommy Phelps limited Cincinnati to one double over seven innings, as Florida snapped Cincinnati's seven-game winning streak. The Reds were held to one hit for the first time since Sept. 26, 2001. Hee Seop Choi hit his fourth homer in his last five games against the Reds. Ken Griffey Jr. went 0-for-3, ending his streak of homers in three consecutive games.
Braves 6, Expos 1
MONTREAL -- Russ Ortiz threw a five-hitter for his first complete game of the season and eighth of his career. Ortiz (5-4) allowed one run in winning his second straight start. He retired his last 17 batters, and 22 of 23, to improve to 5-2 in his last eight outings. Mark DeRosa homered and drove in two runs and Rafael Furcal hit a solo home run for the Braves.
Phillies 7, Mets 4
NEW YORK -- First baseman Mike Piazza's throwing error set up Jim Thome's tie-breaking double for Philadelphia in a six-run seventh inning. Matt Ginter pitched six shutout innings for the Mets, extending their scoreless streak to 28, their longest since going 31 innings without allowing a run in September 1990. But an the Mets' overworked bullpen failed to hold a 3-0 lead.
Rockies 13, Padres 6
DENVER -- Vinny Castilla homered twice and drove in four runs, helping Colorado end a six-game losing streak. Castilla has 14 homers and is tied with Arizona's Steve Finley for the major league lead. Matt Holliday had a two-run homer in the fifth. Mark Sweeney drove in three runs and Todd Greene drove in two runs for Colorado. Phil Nevin had three RBIs for San Diego, which has lost four of six.
Brewers 2, Dodgers 1, 12 innings
MILWAUKEE -- Third baseman Adrian Beltre's throwing error on Keith Ginter's sacrifice bunt allowed Geoff Jenkins to score the winning run for Milwaukee. The Brewers snapped a six-game losing streak to the Dodgers at Miller Park. Dodgers starter Odalis Perez allowed one run on five hits in seven innings. Brewers left-hander Chris Capuano also allowed one run on five hits.
Astros 7, Cubs 3
HOUSTON -- Jeff Bagwell, Jeff Kent and Lance Berkman each homered off Greg Maddux, and Houston overcame the early loss of Andy Pettitte to complete a two-game sweep of Chicago. Pettitte left in the fourth inning with discomfort in his left forearm, and the team said he was day-to-day. Maddux (3-4) was roughed up throughout his five-inning outing against the NL's top offense. He failed to go at least six innings for only the second time this season, giving up five runs on nine hits.
Giants 4, Diamondbacks 3
SAN FRANCISCO -- Barry Bonds hit his second homer in two days and Pedro Feliz hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the eighth for San Francisco. The Diamondbacks fell to 12 games under .500 -- their worst record since the club's inaugural season in 1998.
