2002 slaying suspect could get death
HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) -- Prosecutors said they plan to seek the death penalty for a man charged Wednesday with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery in the 2002 slaying of a man whose body was found dumped in a creek.
Richard Miller, 20, of Hamilton, was indicted on charges he robbed and killed Paul Brown, whose body was found in Two-Mile Creek on March 27, 2002. Brown, 33, also from Hamilton, had been stabbed and bled to death, the Butler County coroner concluded.
"The particularly vicious nature of this murder and aggravated robbery makes the death penalty very appropriate," county Prosecutor Robin Piper said.
Police said that Brown had visited an automated teller machine shortly before his death and that his wallet was missing and his pockets had been turned inside out when his body was found.
Miller is already in the county jail on unrelated assault charges, police said. Investigators declined to say how they linked Miller to the slaying.
