Dodgers bench slump-ridden Shawn Green

ATLANTA (AP) -- Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Shawn Green was benched Saturday by manager Jim Tracy.
Green is in a 2-for-16 slump that's dropped his batting average to .219. Tracy said the slugger also might sit out today against Atlanta.
"I think it's very necessary that he gets a day," Tracy said Saturday before the Dodgers snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 7-4 victory over the Braves. "We'll wait as far as tomorrow is concerned."
Tracy said Green, who also struggled with slow starts the last two seasons, is pressing. Green is second on the team with seven homers but has only 18 RBIs.
"It's an opportunity to sit back and clear his mind from what is going on and mentally sort some things out," Tracy said.
Asked if one day would be enough to clear his mind, Green said: "I don't know."
