YOUNGSTOWN -- Alpha & amp; Omega First Baptist Church, 3120 Winton Ave., is sponsoring "Wholly Holy Women's Day" at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. The church's first lady, Leslie McNeil, will be the guest speaker. At 5 p.m., music will be provided by Kenny Eldridge and the Jesus Celebration singers, and Dione Eldridge will be the guest speaker. Minister to speak
BOARDMAN -- Youngstown Aglow will meet at the Lockwood House, 7095 Lockwood Blvd., for a buffet at 6:30 p.m. Monday. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Joy Chickonoski, associate pastor of High Pointe Assembly in Struthers, whose topic is "Points of Light to Streams of Glory." The cost is $10 per person or $80 for a table of eight. Bible reading seminar
NILES -- Pleasant Valley Evangelical Church, 2055 Pleasant Valley Road, is hosting Dr. Ed Bez, president of Focus on the Bible Ministries International in Atlanta. He will present a Bible study seminar, "How to Read, Understand and Enjoy the Bible," from 6:30 to 10 p.m. June 11 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 12. Southern gospel music
CORTLAND -- The Keffers of Nashville, Ga., will perform at 7 p.m. June 11 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 490 N. High St. There will be Southern gospel singing with praise and worship. An offering will be taken, and the group's CDs will be available.
Scriptural document show
MONROEVILLE, Pa. -- A show of Dead Sea Scroll fragments, early Bibles and other documents will be at the Pittsburgh ExpoMart, 105 Mall Boulevard, from May 28 to June 20. "The Dead Sea Scrolls to the Bible in America" will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. The exhibition was recently in Akron. The cost is $15 a person on weekends, $12 on weekdays; $10 each for groups with 20 or more; and $8 for seniors and students. Children 7 and under are admitted free. Ordination rite set
CANTON -- Christopher F. Luoni will be ordained as a transitional deacon by Bishop Thomas J. Tobin of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown at 10:30 a.m. next Saturday at St. Joseph Church, 2427 W. Tuscarawas St. A transitional deacon is a person who is preparing for ordination to the priesthood. He has worked at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Austintown and is studying at Mount St. Mary Seminary in Cincinnati. Luoni is the son of Frank and Juanita Luoni of Massillon.
Installation rite
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray was installed last Sunday as the minister at First Unitarian Church, 1105 Elm St. Participants from the denomination's Ohio-Meadville District, congregants, associates, friends and relatives attended the installation. It is her first permanent position. In the Unitarian tradition, ministers are formally installed by their first congregation.
The Rev. Mrs. Frederick-Gray received her master's degree in divinity from Harvard Divinity School in 2001 and was ordained in 2002. Her husband is the Rev. Brian Frederick-Gray, assistant pastor of the United Church of Christ in Kent.
Bible seminar set
CORTLAND -- Dr. Charles E. Blair, a Bible teacher and prophesy scholar, will present "The March of Prophecy" at the Church at Warren, 3179 Hoagland-Blackstub Road, at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. Dr. Blair ministered for fifty years at Calvary Temple in Denver, Colo. The multimedia presentation will cover 6,000 years of biblical history and prophecy. Call (330) 638-2959.
