Motorcyclist injured after bike hits car LEAVITTSBURG -- A 43-year-old Warren man was injured when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car driven by an 81-year-old woman, the Ohio Highway Patrol said. Paul Seese was riding south on North Leavitt Road in Warren Township about 9 a.m. Saturday. Daisy Peace of Leavittsburg was northbound. Seese lost control of the 2004 Harley-Davidson and slid left of center, striking Peace's car. Seese, who was not wearing a helmet, was seriously injured and was taken by helicopter to Cleveland Metro Hospital, the patrol said. No charges have been filed. The accident is being investigated. Mosquito spraying LORDSTOWN -- Mosquito spraying in the village is set for June 10 and 24 and July 8 and 22. Spraying will begin at 8 p.m. and finish by 3 a.m. In case of inclement weather, spraying will take place on the next clear day. Residents are advised to stay indoors during spraying and to keep pets and food inside. Scrap tire collection LORDSTOWN -- The village will collect scrap tires again at the street department's garage on Salt Springs Road. Collections are from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 14-18 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 19. Each household is limited to eight tires, and the collection is free to village residents. Junk Car Week NILES -- Junk Car Week in the city is set for June 7-13. Police officers will check each ward in the city for junk vehicles. Any owners of inoperable vehicles or vehicles without current license plates will be cited in Niles Municipal Court. Girl Scouts event NILES -- Lake to River Girl Scouts will sponsor a Summer Sampler for all girls in first through fifth grades. The event is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 14-16 at Waddell Park on Warren Avenue in Niles. Participants will sample hands-on activities in science, arts and crafts, and sports. The cost for the program is $25. Participants need to bring a bagged lunch and their swimsuits for afternoon swimming each day. Registration is limited to 50 girls, and the deadline is June 8. (AP) -- A new $4 million roller coaster is set to open June 18 at 108-year-old Waldameer Park & amp; Water World. The park in Millcreek Township is the 11th oldest continuously operating amusement park in the country. The ride, the park's first steel roller coaster, is 51 feet at its highest point. It will feature cars in which two pairs of people sit back to back, and riders will travel over 1,400 feet of track in about 70 seconds at speeds of up to 38 miles per hour.
