Cemetery buyer sought
BEAVER, Pa. (AP) -- A Beaver County cemetery that has been owned by the same family since the 19th century is running short on funds and the family wants to sell it, but no takers have come forward.
About $4,000 is remaining in a maintenance account for Union Cemetery in Center Township, down from $12,000 when Elvin Batchelor died late last year.
Two funeral homes owned by the Batchelor family were sold this year, but the cemetery was not part of the deal.
Batchelor's son, Bob, who lives in Newport Beach, Calif., said the fear is that the cemetery will begin falling into disrepair. One investment group that did say it would take over the cemetery asked for $20,000 to refill the maintenance fund.
New coaster for park
ERIE, Pa. (AP) -- A new $4 million roller coaster is set to open June 18 at 108-year-old Waldameer Park & amp; Water World. It will feature cars in which two pairs of people sit back to back, and riders will travel over 1,400 feet of track in about 70 seconds at speeds of up to 38 miles per hour.
