Woman killed in accident with school bus

WEST MANCHESTER, Ohio (AP) -- A woman was killed Wednesday when her car collided with a school bus carrying a high school softball team. No one on the bus was seriously injured. Judith Denlinger, 51, of West Manchester, died instantly, said Lt. Art Combest of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Combest said investigators had not determined what caused Denlinger's car to cross the center line of U.S. Route 127 in Preble County and crash head-on into the bus.
The bus was carrying the coach and 14 members of the Carroll High School softball team from Riverside.
Denlinger's car was headed north on the highway, and the bus was southbound when the accident occurred about 5:30 p.m., said Combest.
Thirteen people were taken to hospitals for evaluation. One student suffered a facial injury, but no one else was injured, said school athletic director James Kuntz.
The team was returning from a state tournament sectional final against Vandalia Butler High School, part of a double-header played in Greenville. Carroll lost, 5-1.
West Manchester is about 24 miles northwest of Dayton.
