TAM O'SHANTER Take a swing -- for a $1 million prize

HERMITAGE, Pa. -- If you're any good with a golf club or just have an old club lying around your garage, you might want to make a trip to the Tam O'Shanter Golf Course this week for a shot at a $1 million prize.
The French Creek Council of the Boy Scouts of America is holding its second "Million Dollar Hole-In-One Shoot-Out" Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Tam O'Shanter Driving Range on Pa. Route 18 just north of West Middlesex.
The top prize really is $1 million, provided via an insurance policy purchased for the occasion.
Golf professionals aren't eligible, but anyone else who can swing a club is invited to participate.
The event will run from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
It's three shots for $5, and everyone will shoot for a pin 140 yards away. The five people whose shots are closest to the pin over the three-day period will advance to the final at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Each finalist will get a shot at a hole 175 yards away, and anyone making a hole in one gets a $1 million cash prize.
If there is no hole in one, the two closest to the pin will get a second shot at a $100,000 hole-in-one prize on the same hole.
More than 150 people participated in the first event last year, but no one took the top prize.
Proceeds from the contest benefit Boy Scout programs in Mercer County and Brookfield Township.
