Council action
City council handled these matters at its Wednesday night session:
Adopted a resolution authorizing the finance director to open a separate bank account for the deposit of court capital improvement cash.
Approved an ordinance directing the law director to seek authority from Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to close the sewage fund and transfer the remaining balance to the city general fund.
Approved an ordinance increasing money appropriated for severance in the mayor's office and administration department for payment of accrued and unused vacation and sick leave.
Approved an ordinance directing the finance director to place revenue to be received from property liens from unpaid sewer bills at the time the wastewater treatment plant was sold into the city general fund.
Approved a resolution authorizing the county auditor to remove liens placed on two properties for unpaid water bills. The owners of both properties collectively paid $408 to clear their accounts.
Advanced to a second reading a resolution authorizing the finance director to move $8,500 from the general fund to the community development block grant account as repayment of an unauthorized loan from the CDBG account to the general fund.
