AUSTINTOWN | New middle school

The school board approved preliminary plans Tuesday for a new middle school to be at the corner of South Raccoon Road and Falcon Drive. Plans show that the 174,668-square-foot school will include:
44 classrooms, each covering about 900 square feet.
Eight special-education classrooms.
A 6,166-square-foot combination cafeteria/auditorium.
A 7,981-square-foot main gym.
A 5,889-square-foot auxiliary gym.
Seven science labs, each covering about 1,179 square feet.
A 2,458-square-foot band room.
A 1,749-square-foot chorus room.
A 3,948-square-foot media center.
Two computer labs, each covering about 900 square feet.
