Poland edges Salem, 3-2, to earn share of MAC title with Canfield



SALEM -- David Yost scattered five hits and struck out 13 batters Monday as the Poland High baseball team edged Salem 3-2 in a Metro Athletic Conference game.
The Bulldogs (17-5, 10-2) tied for the MAC title with Canfield.
Poland scored the winning run in the top of the seventh inning. With one out, Zach Horvath doubled and Dan Bertolini followed with a two-out walk. Dom Marchionda's RBI single scored Horvath.
Brett Pitzulo collected two hits for the Bulldogs.
Landon Heath and Cody Dillon each had two hits for the Quakers (16-8, 5-7).
West Branch 12, Canton South 2
BELOIT -- The Warriors (14-12, 7-7) broke open the Northeastern Buckeye Conference game with a six-run third inning.
Andy Todor worked five innings, giving up four hits while striking out four in the Warriors' season finale. Todor also had four hits and four RBIs.
Josh Winans hit two doubles and a single, and drove in two runs.
Canton South (20-9, 9-5) was led by Mark Parnell, who hit two singles, and Dan Parnell, who had a triple.
