GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The rider of an all-terrain vehicle suffered fatal injuries when the vehicle he was riding overturned in a field off the Mercer-Grove City Road. Pennsylvania State Police said Randall G. Hanford, 49, of Grove City, was riding in a farm field when he drove into a small ditch around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. He lost control of his ATV and it rolled over, landing on his head, police said. Hanford wasn't wearing a helmet, police said. He was flown from the scene to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh where he died of his injuries at 2:45 a.m. Monday, police said.
Three burglaries reported
MERCER, Pa. -- Two restaurants and a residence being remodeled were the target of thieves in burglaries reported to the Pennsylvania State Police. Someone broke into the Rainbow Valley Restaurant on U.S. Route 19 at Hadley and the County Line Cafe on Route 19 in Sandy Creek Township on Sunday night. A small amount of cash was taken in both burglaries, police said. Someone stole a commercial air compressor and power tools worth $1,845 over the weekend from a house being remodeled on Harrisville Road in Worth Township, police said.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Someone smashed a window and took cash from Cascade Express on Moravia Street. Police said a cash box was pried open at the convenience store sometime from midnight to 6:40 a.m. Saturday. Police said the store's alarm system was not set.
Sharon treasurer dies
SHARON, Pa. -- City Treasurer Richard Fragle died at his home early today after a battle with cancer.
Fragle, 56, a former bank manager with National City Bank, had won re-election to a second, four-year term as city treasurer in 2003.
Mayor David O. Ryan ordered all city flags to be flown at half-staff until after Fragle's funeral Friday in St. Stanislaus Church.
Ryan said city employees will be allowed to attend the funeral if they wish.
It will be up to city council to find a successor for Fragle, a Democrat. Council will have 30 days in which to interview candidates and make an appointment.
Warren driver diesin 6-vehicle accident
WARREN -- One driver was pronounced dead at Trumbull Memorial Hospital after a six-vehicle accident Monday afternoon at East Market Street and Laird Avenue. Police identified him as Steve Gulich, 47, of Warren and said the crash remains under investigation.
Gulich was westbound on Market Street at 5:23 p.m. in a white Mercury Tracer, which police said went left of center, striking a white Chevrolet Lumina, which was turning from Laird Avenue onto Market Street. The Mercury continued west, striking a white Buick Regal head-on. The Buick was forced into a black Pontiac Sunfire and a white GMC Sierra pickup truck. The Pontiac was pushed into a red Chevrolet Astro.
The Buick driver, whose name wasn't available, was taken to TMH. All others refused treatment at the scene, police said.
