VH1 is looking for the next Keith, Laurie, Shirley or Danny Partridge. The network is launching a four city casting call in July for "In Search of the Partridge Family."
The seven-episode reality series will follow the quest for a new Partridge brood with the priority of finding either actors who can really sing and play instruments or musicians who can really act and sing. The series is produced by Jeff Margolis Productions ("Fame") and Sony Pictures Television.
Original cast members Shirley Jones, David Cassidy and Danny Bonaduce will be involved in the show, which will begin casting July 17 in Orlando. The casting moves to New York City on July 20 and shifts to Minneapolis-St. Paul on July 24. A Los Angles call on July 31 is the last scheduled date, but further information will be available on VH1's Web site.
When the music network announced plans for the series late last year, VH1 said that the culmination of the reality series would be the filming of a new "Partridge Family" pilot.
The original series aired on ABC from 1970-74, tracking the amusing adventures of a pop music family that toured the country in a colorful bus. In 1972, the series earned a Golden Globe nomination for outstanding series, musical/comedy. Jones received two Golden Globe best actress nominations, and co-star Susan Dey was nominated once for supporting actress.
