STRUTHERS -- Judge James R. Lanzo set a trial date of July 9 for Rodney Ciccone, 31, of Queisner Avenue, Lowellville, during his arraignment in municipal court Friday.
Ciccone is charged with aggravated menacing.
According to police, Ciccone, after repeatedly calling his ex-girlfriend on the telephone, and driving back and forth past her house, barged into her home and threw her clothes in the street.
When police went to Ciccone's residence to question him, the report says he got up from the sofa, threatened to kill the officer and pointed a revolver at him.
Ciccone later told police that he'd been drinking and didn't remember pointing the gun at the officer.
Temporary shut-off
AUSTINTOWN -- Water is set to be shut off Sunday night to Youngstown Water customers on Interstate Boulevard and the nearby Fairfield Inn and Arby's restaurant on state Route 46 as part of the state Route 46 widening project. The water will be shut off around midnight Sunday while contractors move a waterline and be back on around 6 a.m. Monday. The city water department recommends that after the water is turned back on, customers bring their water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it. The department will tell residents when the water is tested and considered safe and the boil order is lifted.
Open house at center
STRUTHERS -- A community open house at the new Wellness Center at the high school from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday will be held in conjunction with a rib-and-chicken dinner fund-raiser for the athletic department. Dinners will be served in the high school cafeteria. The new football coaches will be introduced at 2 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $15.
School zone system
LOWELLVILLE -- Village officials have asked the Ohio Department of Transportation to install a flashing, 20 mph school zone system for both directions on state Route 289 near Cooper Street Extension. School property abuts Cooper Street Extension. Officials also asked that temporary school zone signs be installed until the permanent flashing system is operating. The village would pay for the electricity used to operate the sign.
Diocese cemetery rules
YOUNGSTOWN -- Artificial decorations and potted plants must be removed from graves at Diocese of Youngstown cemeteries on or before Sunday. These include All Souls in Cortland and Calvary in Youngstown. Decorations may be placed for Memorial Day beginning May 23 and removed by June 27. Because of a staff shortage at The Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown, there will be only one removal date, on or before June 27.
Man charged in break-in
AUSTINTOWN -- Brian Hodge, 34, of Notre Dame Drive has been charged with burglary in a break-in at a North Kimberly Avenue home last month. He is in the Mahoning County jail with bond set at $12,000 and is to be arraigned Monday.
Hodge was arrested by police Thursday at his home. They said a man they believe to be Hodge pried open the back door of the residence around 2 p.m. April 23 and was still inside when the resident came home. The resident told police she saw the man run out the back door and that he had taken money. A witness saw the man get into a van, and police said they used the van's description to track down Hodge, who is also wanted by Bazetta Township police on a burglary charge, police said.
Model A Ford Club
FOWLER -- The Penn-Ohio Model A Ford Club will have a meeting from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Masonic Lodge on Everett-Hull Road. Between 60 and 80 Model A's from Ohio and Pennsylvania will be displayed.
Marijuana charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- Police charged a 16-year-old Dewey Avenue boy with aggravated trafficking in marijuana after they said they found seven plastic bags containing marijuana in his pants pocket and a large bag with 47 individually packaged bags of marijuana under the seat of a car he was driving.
According to police, officers were attempting to execute a warrant Thursday evening at a home in the 3000 block of Oregon Avenue, where the boy was sitting inside a parked car. Officers said they smelled the aroma of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
