Tiny crossroads bears quite an impressive name

CENTER OF THE WORLD -- Essentially just a crossroads, this tiny neighbor of Warren bears an awe-inspiring name. But even most locals aren't sure where the moniker comes from.
Located in Braceville Township, stretching only about a mile along state Routes 82 and 5, Center of the World has no government of its own, no post office and no grocery store.
The bigger businesses are Lee's Appliances, the Gateway Motel and a truck stop that features the Kountry Kupboard restaurant, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Green signs with white lettering announce the town's name but offer no other explanation or information. According to local legend, reprinted in various history books about Trumbull County, an eccentric businessman trying to drum up customers decided painting the phrase on the side of his building would catch a few eyes.
The story goes on to say that when the railroads were built, forcing the businessman to move to a new location, he painted a new phrase on that building. Rumor has it the new structure was the End of the World.
