Martial artists to try for most board breaks

BOARDMAN -- The public is invited to watch students at Naples' Family Martial Arts studio take part in a nationwide attempt to set a world record for the most board breaks executed in one hour.
They will be raising money for The Project Action Foundation to fight juvenile crime and keep children out of gangs. Thousands of martial artists across the United States will take part in the event, which is set for 12:30 p.m. May 22.
The current world record was set in May 2001 and stands at 50,381 breaks performed in one hour.
The Project Action Foundation is a national children's charity whose mission is to prevent juvenile crime by providing disadvantaged and "at-risk" children the opportunity to become involved in physical and cultural arts programs working with martial arts, dance and gymnastics schools.
The Naples studio is at 60 Boardman-Canfield Road.
