Barnes & amp; Noble plansupcoming events
BOARDMAN -- The American Girls club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Barnes & amp; Noble in The Shops at Boardman Park. Club members will be having a birthday party for "Samantha and Kit."
At 1 p.m. Saturday, the bookstore invites author Jackie Bray to promote "How to Get Stupid White Men Out of Office." The book was recently published by Soft Skull Press and has been receiving a lot of attention.
Writing workshop
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Local author Susan Dexter will hold her monthly fiction writing workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Jerry Stigliano's Book Source on State Street. The workshop will repeat April's topic of point of view, plus there will be general discussion of writing, agents and publishing issues as requested.
Participants may have up to 10 typewritten pages of their work evaluated by Dexter and are also encouraged to bring short selections to share with the group. Fiction writers at all experience levels are invited. There is a $10 registration fee, and reservations are requested as space is limited. They can be made at (724) 981-0777 or at the front counter of the Book Source.
Because of tighter schedules, the workshops will break for summer and resume in the fall.
