YOUNGSTOWN -- Marilynn Marchione, a Youngstown native, has been named a medical writer for Associated Press. Formerly a medical writer for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Marchione has covered a wide range of national medical issues, including infectious disease, genetics and medical ethics. She has also worked for the Chicago Sun-Times and Akron Beacon Journal.
A 1972 graduate of Ursuline High School, Marchione has a bachelor's degree from Kent State University. She received a four-month Knight Journalism Fellowship to study epidemiology at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta and has participated in several other medical reporting fellowships.
REAL ESTATE
BOARDMAN -- Bob Kerr has joined Coldwell Banker First Place Real Estate as a sales associate working in the Boardman office. Kerr has been employed in the sales and engineering of steel mill related equipment and is a manager of mechanical engineering for a steel mill equipment supplier. A Poland resident, he also holds three patents.
SERVICE
YOUNGSTOWN -- Frances Brooks, a licensed social worker, has joined the staff at the Alzheimer's Association on Boardman-Canfield Road, Canfield. Brooks, a Philadelphia native, has been living and working in the Youngstown and New Castle, Pa., area for 26 years. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Youngstown State University and has more than 15 years' experience working with older adults.
