East Palestine sweeps Tri-County meets
EAST PALESTINE -- The East Palestine High track and field teams swept the Tri-County League boys and girls meets Thursday at Reid Memorial Stadium.
The Bulldog boys scored 133 points for the victory; Columbiana (84) was the runner-up. The Bulldog girls scored 140 points to outdistance runner-up United (102).
East Palestine's boys got first-place finishes from Chad Setliff in the 400-meter dash (52.90 seconds), Joe Rettig in the 800 (2:02.60), Corey Chick in the 3200 (10:46.50) and Jeremiah Blower in the 110 hurdles (16.20).
The Bulldogs also won the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.
Also in boys competition, Leetonia's Aaron Merrill was a double winner. He finished first in the shot put (54-6) and discus (148-4).
The East Palestine girls scored first-place finishes with Jessica Foster in the 200 (27.80), Danyelle Newman in the 100 hurdles (16.10), Ashley Carey in the 300 hurdles (50.80) and Sam DiCello in the long jump (15-1).
East Palestine also won the 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 relays.
Also in girls competition, Lisbon's Lindsay Brickner was a double winner. She finished first in the 1600 (5:51.70) and 3200 (12:41.60).
