PREP SOFTBALL Champion captures Division III sectional final

The Golden Flashes defeated Garrettsville Garfield, 3-0.
GARRETTSVILLE -- Kasey Karr pitched a complete game two-hitter, striking out four and walking two, to lead Champion past Garrettsville Garfield 3-0 in a Division III sectional final on Wednesday.
Karr also had two hits for the Golden Flashes (18-4), who advanced to play Newton Falls next Wednesday in the district tournament at Grand Valley.
Megan Polifrone had two hits for Garfield.
Regular season
POLAND -- Edison scored a run in the top of the first inning and held on to beat Poland 1-0.
Leah Snyder doubled and scored on an infield single by Missy Evans. Edison (22-4) got a complete game from pitcher Lakyn Bendle (6-1), who allowed just three hits and struck out seven.
Jessie Modic collected two singles for Poland (18-5). Jenna Susany (3-2) allowed six hits and struck out seven.
Canfield 17, Salem 1
CANFIELD -- Nikki Garrett, Whitney Zunic, Franque Yazbek and Ashley Yager each hit a triple for the Cardinals (14-9, 6-4 Metro Athletic Conference).
Garrett, Zunic and Kerrie Haurin led a 13-hit attack, each with three hits.
Zunic and Ashley Bleggi combined on a two-hitter.
West Branch 7, Niles 2
NILES -- The Warriors (11-13) scored six times in the top of the sixth inning after the score was knotted at 1 after five.
Bri Benedict and Ellie Geiger each had two hits for the Warriors.
For Niles (10-10), Kelly Leonard went 2-for-3 with a double.
Crestview 10, Leetonia 0
COLUMBIANA -- Jessica Sferra tossed a no-hitter, striking out 10 and walking two.
