DIVISION IV BASEBALL Zatchok's first no-hit game leads Reserve to 14-0 rout



The second-seeded Blue Devils rolled past Lowellville.
STRUTHERS -- Senior Jake Zatchok pitched the first no-hitter of his career as the Western Reserve High baseball team defeated Lowellville 14-0 Tuesday in the Division IV tournament.
Zatchok (4-2) struck out 10 batters and just two in the five-inning game.
The second-seeded Blue Devils (12-9) will play Lordstown (4-10) in the Cene district Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Ryan Pauken led Western Reserve with four hits, one a double, and four RBIs.
Nick Sanders had three hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs.
Brandon Moherman had three hits with a double and Adam Myers singled twice.
Lordstown 5, Mineral Ridge 3
MINERAL RIDGE -- Seven players each had one hit to lead Lordstown (4-10).
Brandon Linert and Matt Busse doubled for the Rams (7-11) who led 2-1 in the top of the fifth and who tied the game at 3 in the sixth.
Josh Davis had an RBI double for Lordstown in the last of the sixth.
Kyle Schofer (2-4) held Mineral Ridge to three hits.
McDonald 11, Mathews 8
McDONALD -- Trailing 8-7 in the sixth inning, McDonald scored three runs on one error.
The Blue Devils advanced to play Columbiana in Tuesday's district semifinal at Cene Park at 4:30 p.m.
Mike Van Dyke rapped a solo homer and an RBI single while Jordan Farr had two singles, one RBI and two stolen bases to pace McDonald.
Mike Mainhart clouted a two-run homer for Mathews.
Columbiana 9, Southern 5
SALINEVILLE -- Mike Welce went 3-for-4 with three doubles and Drew Wagner added a double for Columbiana (19-6).
Matt Bertollette added three hits for the Clippers.
Maplewood 7, Bristol 3
BRISTOLVILLE -- Junior Jacob Abbott struck out 15 and just walked one for the second-seeded Rockets (16-5).
Abbott (3-3) lost three one-run games this year.
Maplewood will play in the Euclid district at Euclid High School Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Senior Jon Carlson went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead Maplewood. Jeremy Mohorick and Brayton Bollinger also doubled.
Joe Hardy doubled twice for the Panthers (9-8).
