AROUND THE HORN Tuesday's other games

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Yankees 8, Angels 7, 10 innings
NEW YORK -- Gary Sheffield lined an RBI double with two outs in the 10th inning, and the Yankees ended Anaheim's nine-game winning streak. The game included two rain delays totaling nearly 21/2 hours, plus a bizarre break when the Yankees' radio broadcast began echoing from the scoreboard in the 10th. On a night when ace relievers Mariano Rivera, Francisco Rodriguez and Troy Percival all squandered late leads, Sheffield's hit ended it at 1:23 a.m.
Twins 7, Mariners 6, 11 innings
MINNEAPOLIS -- Shannon Stewart knocked the ball out of catcher Dan Wilson's glove to score from second base in the 11th inning for Minnesota. Stewart, who was slow to get up after the collision, scored on Doug Mientkiewicz's bloop single to center off Ron Villone (3-1). Randy Winn's throw beat Stewart, but the 5-foot-11, 200-pounder knocked the ball loose. Aaron Fultz (1-1) pitched two scoreless innings for the win.
Rangers 5, Devil Rays 4
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Hank Blalock homered twice and Laynce Nix had a two-run shot to help Texas hand Tampa Bay its sixth straight loss.
White Sox 15, Orioles 0
CHICAGO -- Mark Buehrle got his first victory since April 10, and Magglio Ordonez had five RBIs for Chicago. Ordonez went 4-for-5. Frank Thomas hit a three-run homer and Jose Valentin homered and drove in two runs for the White Sox, who snapped a season-worst three-game losing streak.
Royals 5, Blue Jays 1
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Juan Gonzalez hit a tiebreaking single in the sixth inning off AL Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay, and Kansas ended Toronto's six-game winning streak. Mike Sweeney added a two-run double in a three-run seventh for the Royals, who had lost seven straight home games against Toronto since July 29, 2002.
Athletics 5, Tigers 4, 15 innings
DETROIT -- Damian Miller hit a tiebreaking, two-out single in the 15th inning to give Oakland its fourth victory in its last five games. Eric Chavez and Jermaine Dye hit singles off Danny Patterson (0-2), and Scott Hatteberg was intentionally walked to load the bases with two outs to set up the game-winning hit. Dye and Bobby Crosby hit leadoff, solo homers in the second and third innings to give Oakland a 2-1 lead.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Astros 6, Marlins 1
HOUSTON -- Roger Clemens remained unbeaten and struck out a season-high 11, leading Houston over Florida and Brad Penny in a rematch of World Series Game 4 starters. Clemens (7-0) allowed only three hits, including a solo homer to Ramon Castro, in seven innings to get his 317th win. Neither Clemens, then with the Yankees, nor Penny got a decision in that World Series game.
Cardinals 5, Braves 1
ST. LOUIS -- Woody Williams, an 18-game winner last year, won for the first time in seven starts this season with eight strong innings for St. Louis.
Brewers 8, Expos 5, 14 innings
MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers overcame a five-run deficit in the ninth inning, and Wes Helms hit a three-run homer off T.J. Tucker in the 14th. Helms, who hadn't driven in a run since April 10, ended a 4-hour, 20-minute game with a drive of left-center off Tucker (0-1). Dave Burba (3-1) pitched one scoreless inning for the win.
Dodgers 7, Cubs 3
LOS ANGELES -- Chicago ace Kerry Wood gave up second-inning homers to Adrian Beltre and rookie Jason Grabowski before hurting his arm. Wood didn't come out for the third inning because of tightness in his triceps.
Diamondbacks 9, Mets 5
PHOENIX -- Steve Finley hit a grand slam and Shea Hillenbrand went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs for Arizona.
Reds 6, Padres 3
SAN DIEGO -- Adam Dunn tied for the major league lead with his 11th home run and Ken Griffey Jr. also connected for Cincinnati. Aaron Harang (3-1) allowed three runs and five hits in six innings, beating David Wells (2-3).
Phillies 10, Giants 4
SAN FRANCISCO -- Kevin Millwood shut down San Francisco in his first start against the Giants since no-hitting them last year. Chase Utley had two hits with a double and an RBI.
