Investigators seek cause of man's injuries
KENSINGTON -- Authorities are probing the death of a man found lying unconscious along the side of U.S. Route 30 early Sunday.
Jamie Huffman, 33, of 28050 U.S. 30, Hanover Township, died as a result of injuries about 8 a.m. Monday at Aultman Hospital in Canton, said a spokesman for the Columbiana County Sheriff's Department.
The Stark County coroner's office is investigating Huffman's death.
Sheriff's detectives are trying to determine if Huffman's death was a hit-and-run or a homicide, chief Detective Pete Whitmore said today.
Huffman was discovered after a woman entered Stitches' Bar in Kensington early Sunday and said she had seen a man lying along the road near Kensington. Huffman had been in the bar before that.
Friends of his who were in the bar found him and took him home.
When Huffman's live-in girlfriend, a bartender at Stitches', arrived home later, he was still unconscious. She called an ambulance, which took him to a hospital.
The sheriff's department learned of Huffman's case when the hospital notified them about 6 p.m. Sunday.
