Crash seriously injuresIndiana motorcyclist
MERCER, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police said an Indiana man was seriously injured when he lost control of his motorcycle on an Interstate 79 exit ramp in Jackson Township.
Police said Jeffery L. Reagle, 31, of Bloomington, Ind., was southbound on I-79 around 10:45 p.m. Saturday and apparently was traveling too fast to safely make it around an exit ramp.
His motorcycle left the road, traveling 57 feet before it tipped over, throwing Reagle off. The motorcycle struck the guardrail and was demolished. Reagle slid another 68 feet across the berm and also hit the guardrails, police said.
He wasn't wearing a helmet and suffered severe head and upper torso injuries, police said, adding that they believe alcohol played a role in the crash. Reagle faces charges of driving under the influence, driving without a license and some traffic offenses, police said.
He was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, where he remained in critical condition today.
Police: Gun found in car
YOUNGSTOWN -- A loaded stolen handgun with a makeshift laser sight was found Sunday afternoon under the driver's seat of a white Lincoln Town Car driven by Duwayne Morant, 30, of Erskine Avenue, Boardman, police said.
Morant was pulled over on Market Street after police received a report that shots had been fired from a white Lincoln with a broken front grille around 5:40 p.m.
Moran was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana. Police said the suspected marijuana was found under the driver's seat.
Moran told the officers that he is "on paper" to a common pleas judge for a weapons offense, meaning he is on probation for the crime.

Bike trail plaque
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The plaque designating the Stavich Bike Trail as a National Recreation Trail was put in place Saturday. The trail, which stretches from New Castle to Lowellville/Struthers, was named part of the National Recreation Trail in June 2003, but officials had not put the plaque in place because it arrived in the winter. Officials wanted to wait for warmer weather to present it, said Janet Falotico of the Lawrence County Tourist Promotion Agency. The 12-mile trail follows the former Youngstown-New Castle streetcar line.
