NEWTON FALLS -- Lockheed Martin recently awarded its Maritime Systems & amp; Sensors Premier Circle Honors designation to Timothy Macklin, a Newton Falls resident. Macklin, who works at Lockheed Martin's facility in Akron, was recognized for superior technical excellence that has earned him national recognition as an expert in infrared countermeasures for the protection of aircraft and ships.
The Premier Circle Honors program recognizes employees whose contributions to the business set an example of excellence. Lockheed Martin honored 85 of its employees with the award this year.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The U.S. Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration has named the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber's AEROPark project a finalist for its 2004 Excellence in Economic Development Awards.
AEROPark, a business park on a 500-acre site near the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna, is home to Delphi Packard Electric Systems, Timken Latrobe Steel and Lexington Connector Seals.
The Regional Chamber is one of three finalists in the category of Enhancing Regional Competitiveness, in which nominations are evaluated not only on how effectively they enhanced competitiveness but also to determine how they support long-term development of the regional economy. Winners will be announced at a Capitol Hill reception as part of the EDA National Conference June 8-10.
GIRARD -- Wm. Price Heating and Cooling in Girard has been named a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer. Price is a second-generation, family-owned company founded in 1937. Carrier's CFAD program sets national standards to develop customer satisfaction with the brand and its dealers. As a participant, Price must maintain an 85 percent customer satisfaction rating, based on customer surveys. The program also sets standards for all technicians and offers continuous training on new products. Carrier has certified all Price technicians.
WARREN -- Romona Davis Washington, a vice president for Second National Bank in Warren, was named Cleveland District Financial Services Advocate of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Washington was one of several Northeast Ohio business leaders the agency recognized with its SBA Champion Awards, recognizing those who took an active role in creating opportunities for small business.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Kathleen Salaka of Lowellville has been named Volunteer Director of the Year at the first annual Community Volunteer Service Awards Luncheon, sponsored by the Volunteer Services Agency, Inc.
Salaka has been director of volunteer services for Forum Health Northside Medical Center for 20 years and has management responsibility for more than 525 youth and adult volunteers at the south campus of Forum Health. She has bachelor's and master's degrees from Youngstown State University.
