WARREN -- A 49-year-old man has pleaded no contest to a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
Lanny D. Tackett of Girard entered the plea Friday before Judge Andrew Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. He was sentenced to one year in prison.
According to Chuck Morrow, an assistant Trumbull County prosecutor, Tackett is accused of killing his 74-year-old father, Carl, in December.

VIENNA -- Seven members from the 757th and 773rd Airlift Squadrons of the Air Force Reserve's 910th Airlift Wing are scheduled to return to the Youngstown Air Reserve Station this afternoon.
The reservists are returning from a 90-day deployment to an air base in Kyrgyzstan used for the movement of people and supplies supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
Task force honors police
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Mayor's Task Force on Crime and Violence Prevention honored Friday all city police officers who are assigned to patrol the streets.
The task force has largely honored police commanders with their monthly awards in the past, said Rev. Alfred Coward, the group's chairman.
But patrol officers are the ones who get the work done on the streets, he said, so the task force decided to recognize patrol officers this month, which is National Law Enforcement Month.
Water service delays
YOUNGSTOWN -- Water service will be interrupted Monday in two spots in the city while crews relocate lines as part of the 711 connector project.
Those in the 2400 and 2500 blocks of Belmont Avenue, plus all tenants of Union Square Plaza, will be without water between about 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Crews are relocating a waterline on Belmont between Gypsy Lane and Granada Avenue.
Also, these streets will be without water from about 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: Temple, Beck, Sarah, Dupont, Dearborn and Hammaker streets; Mosier Place and Robinwood Place; Goodlow, Sloane and Briar Hill avenues; Davis Lane; and Stansbury Drive.
Crews are relocating a line on West Federal Street near Division Street.
The state Environmental Protection Agency recommends boiling cooking and drinking water for one minute once service is restored. The city will notify those affected once the water has been tested and is considered safe.
Error on trash bill
STRUTHERS -- Residents using Waste Management of Ohio for trash removal under a contract negotiated by the city were mistakenly billed 49 cents for a fuel surcharge on their first bill, according to Safety Service Director John Sveda.
The contract with Waste Management became effective May 1. The city's contract with BFI expired April 30.
Under the contract with Waste Management, Sveda said, residents with regular service are to pay $19.74 per quarter, not $20.23 as the first bill indicates. Residents using the bag program pay $10 for 10 bags.
The fuel surcharge is not in the contract, he said, and therefore should not have been included on the bills. Residents who have paid the bill, he said, will receive a credit on their next bill. Those who have not paid the bill may deduct 49 cents.
