KEYSTONE CLIPS Sainato urges residents to help troops call home

State Rep. Chris Sainato of New Castle, D-9th, is urging residents to take part in a new program designed to help soldiers serving overseas keep in touch with their families at home.
The "Help Our Troops Call Home" program is authorized by the U.S. Department of Defense and operated by the Armed Services Exchanges.
It allows the public to buy pre-paid calling cards and then donate those cards to any service member who is deployed or hospitalized.
Residents can reach Web sites giving directions on donations by going to Sainato's legislative Web site at www.pahouse.com/sainato and clicking on the "Help Our Troops Call Home" link.
Leadership award
Lawrence County District Attorney Matthew Mangino received the 2004 Adopt-A-School Leadership Award from the Allegheny County Adopt-A-School Advisory Board.
The award is given annually to recognize leadership that best exemplifies the goals of the initiative. Mangino launched Lawrence County's Adopt-A-School program in 2001.
The program is designed to teach the principles of law enforcement to ninth-graders, while addressing tough social issues such as drugs, crime and violence.
It is active in six of the eight Lawrence County school districts and there are plans to expand it to all schools by spring 2005.
