It's almost time to strike up the band. Summer is outdoor concert season, and The Vindicator will publish a comprehensive list of community concert schedules May 27. Concert in Boardman
BOARDMAN -- Seraphim Chorus and members of Ohio Boychoir will be featured in concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturdayin Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St.The works of Giovanni Gabrielli, Anton Bruckner, Richard Strauss and John Rutter's "Gloria" will be directedy by Jon Simsic. There also will be a silent auction and refreshments.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and $5 for students. For information, call (330) 898-3620.
Symphony Chorus concert scheduled
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Love Stream" is the theme of the spring concert by Youngstown Symphony Chorus at 7:30 p.m. May 18 in the Marble Room at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave.
Directed by Don Megahan of Pittsburgh, the chorus will sing Johannes Brahms' "Liebeslieder Walzer" and Alice Parker's "Songstream." There will also be solos and duets.
Light refreshments will be served. Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for senior citizens. For tickets call the box office at (330) 747-5175 weekdays.
Site manager named
Ohio Historical Society has promoted Nancy Haraburda to site manager of Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor.
Haraburda, an education specialist at the site since 1993, has been responsible for adult and children's programming, conducted numerous speaking engagement and tours of the center, and managed after-hours events.
In addition, Haraburda has served as coordinator and treasurer of First Night Youngstown and as an adult trainer for Lake to River Girl Scout Council. She also is a member of the Downtown Revitalization Committee and a board member and secretary of Arts Council of Youngstown and Mahoning County.
Oakland fund-raiser
YOUNGSTOWN -- The annual Oakland Center for the Arts fund-raiser will be at 6:30 p.m. May 22 at the community theater, 220 W. Boardman St. Wine and finger foods will be served and Chinese and silent auctions are planned. At 8 p.m., Jennifer Windle and Ryan Ruth will perform "The Last Five Years," a musical by Jason Robert Brown. The Oakland produced another of Brown's works, "Songs for a New World," earlier this season. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Call (330) 746-0404.
