REGULAR SEASON BASEBALL Rick Banna throws no-hitter for Cards



He had a perfect game through four innings.
SALEM -- Senior Rick Banna pitched a no-hitter with seven strikeouts and just two walks as Canfield beat Salem 9-1 in a regular season Metro Athletic Conference baseball game Thursday.
It was the first no-hitter of his high school career for Banna (6-0), who lost a perfect game with a fifth-inning walk.
Senior Chad Baker led the attack for the Cardinals (21-3, 9-1 MAC). Baker went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs.
Mike Pulakos homered and singled, and Justin Kucek had two hits,
Fitch 7, Lake 4
CANTON -- John Mang went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs to lead Fitch in a Federal League game at Malone College.
Dom Modarelli added two doubles for the Falcons (14-4, 5-3), while Bob Melnek (3-0) got the win and Matt Lutz got the save.
Canton GlenOak 7, Boardman 6
BOARDMAN -- Canton GlenOak (7-12, 5-4) rallied for two runs in the seventh inning to prevail in the Federal League game.
Dan Ford and Chris Bako hit home runs for the Spartans (10-12, 4-5), while Matt Madrid hit three doubles and drove in three runs.
Campbell 12, McDonald 1
CAMPBELL -- Campbell, ahead 2-1, scored five runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth and four in the sixth.
Matt Stankich (2-0) worked six innings for the Red Devils (12-9) and struck out five to pickup the win. He hit a triple, double, drove in two runs and scored twice.
Chris Melnik and Anthony S. Zambillas hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning for the Red Devils. Stan Gozur hit a pair of singles.
South Range 11, W. Reserve 5
NORTH LIMA -- Ryan Maxwell had three hits and scored three runs to lead South Range in an Inter-County League game. Greg Rohan added two hits, three runs and four RBIs for the Raiders (13-7, 7-1), while Dan Justice had two hits and two RBIs.
Jake Zatchok had two hits and scored twice for Western Reserve (11-7, 5-4).
Lisbon 8, Crestview 2
COLUMBIANA -- Lisbon, behind 2-0, scored five runs in the third inning.
The Blue Devils are tied for first place in the Tri-County League standings with United at 10-1. Aaron Rudibaugh hit a double, single and drove in two runs for Lisbon. Aaron Cosma also hit a double and single.
Matt Petrosky and Eric Wittenberger each singled home a run for Crestview (6-12, 5-7).
Warren JFK 11, Garfield 5
GARRETTSVILLE -- Steve Orlosky had three hits, including two homers for the Eagles (7-12) who led 11-1 after three innings. Adam Amodio had two hits, including a homer for JFK.
