PETA targets 'Flab Five' for Fat Guy makeovers
Michael Moore is making headlines with his controversial documentary, but one group is targeting the filmmaker for his waistline, MSNBC.com reports. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has selected the gadfly filmmaker as one of its "Flab Five" and is treating him to a Veg Eye for the Fat Guy makeover.
"Looks like the 'Downsize This' author has been doing too much supersizing," PETA says. "We'll be sending him a nice little care package, a makeover kit filled with health and diet tips, PETA's vegetarian starter kit, and suggestions on how he might change his lifestyle," PETA's Michael McGraw says.
Other celebs who'll be receiving PETA's Flab Five pack include American Idol winner Ruben Studdard Luciano Pavarotti, John Madden and actor John Goodman.
PETA says it's not worried about a controversy for targeting obese people. "It's a light-hearted approach to a serious issue," McGraw says. "The Veg Eye has the potential to save these guys' lives."
Ex-manager sues Martin
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Ricky Martin's former manager has filed a $63.5 million lawsuit against the singer that alleges breach of contract.
Angelo Medina claims the 32-year-old pop star failed to live up to terms agreed upon when they ended their contract in September. Medina contends he was to have continued managing Martin's career in Puerto Rico but not internationally, but the singer broke all ties.
Edgardo Cartagena, a lawyer for Martin, said Thursday the allegations are "not too well-organized."
"There was an agreement to terminate the relationship," Cartagena said. "We reject the allegations."
Judge Oscar Davila agreed Wednesday to hear the case. Martin didn't attend the hearing.
Medina filed the lawsuit in response to a $2.5 million lawsuit Martin filed against him in New York. Martin is demanding that Medina return advance payments for services allegedly not given.
The next hearing in Medina's lawsuit is Aug. 13.
