KIWANIS Warren club plans banquet to honor 15

WARREN -- The Kiwanis Club of Warren will have its 30th Erwin Klein Memorial Scholastic Achievement Banquet at 6 p.m. May 20 at DiLucia's Banquet Room, Elm Road.
The annual event recognizes the top 15 students in academic achievement from Warren G. Harding and John F. Kennedy high schools and the top five academic achievers from Lordstown High School.
Students receive $100 scholarships and recognition certificates. Trumbull County Adult Probation Officer Vince Peterson will be the keynote speaker.
Tickets are $15, and the club's peanut sale makes possible the complimentary meal for the students. Local sponsors help to defray other banquet costs.
Erwin J. Klein was a 27-year club member who served as both club president and secretary and worked for the city schools for 31 years. Klein organized the banquet in 1972, chairing the event for 22 years. After his death in 1993, the event was renamed in his honor.
