DIVISION IV W. Reserve, Ridge advance on shutouts
BERLIN CENTER -- Sophomore Stevie Banks threw a one-hitter with eight strikeouts Thursday as Western Reserve High blanked Leetonia 11-0 in a Division IV softball tournament game.
Banks (4-1) didn't walk a batter for the top-seeded Blue Devils (14-6).
Katie Harmon had three hits, including a double, and Quinn McCammon had two hits with two RBIs in Western Reserve's 12-hit attack. Tarah Young also singled twice.
Western Reserve will play Youngstown Christian next Thursday.
Mineral Ridge 6, McDonald 0
McDONALD -- Kaili Gehring (10-4) pitched a three-hitter with 15 strikeouts for the top-seeded Rams (15-5).
Sarah Stark doubled for the Rams, who will play at Mathews next Thursday.
Jackson-Milton 3, Lordstown 2
NORTH JACKSON -- In the top of the fifth inning, Audrey Robinson had an RBI bunt to give Jackson-Milton (12-10) a 2-0 lead.
Krista Kiraly (12-10) held Lordstown (4-7) to five singles.
Jackson-Milton will play at second-seeded Windham next Thursday.
