Trucker in hospital after I-80 crash

WEATHERSFIELD -- A Youngstown man remained hospitalized this morning in St. Elizabeth Health Center after a tractor-trailer accident that slowed traffic on Interstate 80 for hours Wednesday.
Jeffrey Carroll, 29, was admitted to the hospital, but a condition report was not available. A second man, 39-year-old Sean Dunmire of Warren, was taken to St. Elizabeth's after the accident, but he was released after treatment in the emergency room, hospital officials said.
A dispatcher from the Southington post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said a tractor-trailer driven by Carroll hit another vehicle, went through a guardrail and slid down a hill on I-80 near the Salt Springs Road exit shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Reports said Carroll tried to switch from the right to the left lane. The left lane was blocked, so the truck returned to the right lane, only to hit a truck, driven by Dunmire, which was parked on the berm, the patrol said.
Dunmire reportedly had pulled over to make a phone call when the accident occurred. Reports indicate Dunmire did not have the vehicle's hazard lights flashing.
After hitting Dunmire's truck, the tractor-trailer, which was carrying wood, destroyed the guardrail and slid down a hill about 50 feet, coming to rest on its right side. The wood fell onto the hillside.
The patrol cited Carroll with driving in marked lanes and Dunmire with parking on the road.
