Neshannock officials adopt new policy

NESHANNOCK, Pa. -- A new policy will help eliminate last-minute agenda items at township meetings.
Township supervisors unanimously approved a policy Wednesday that would require anyone wanting an item to be placed on the agenda for formal action to have the request at the township building five days before the scheduled meeting date.
Supervisor John DiCola Jr. said he does not want this policy to deter the general public from coming to meetings with a problem or concern.
He noted that lately township secretary Leslie Bucci has been approached to add items to the agenda a day before a scheduled meeting. "This does not allow enough time for the supervisors to review the item before taking formal action," DiCola said.
In other business, the speed limit in Neshannock Trails will be lowered from 35 to 25 miles per hour. An engineering study warranted a speed reduction, after complaints of speeding in the development, supervisors said. DiCola said a speed limit is not lowered due to complaints. Factors such as sight distance, curves and private driveways were taken into consideration to make this decision.
Supervisors approved an $8,500 contract with Graziani Construction of New Castle for the storm water repair project on the southwest side of East Oakwood Way and Buena Vista Way.
