DIVISION III Snyder's first gem is 16-0 win
Krista Snyder's no-hitter powered Springfield past Campbell in tourney play.
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Sophomore Krista Snyder pitched a no-hitter as Springfield High defeated Campbell Memorial 16-0 in the Division III softball tournament Wednesday.
It was the first career no-hitter for Snyder. She struck out 13 and walked three.
Springfield (15-4) will play at second-seeded United next Wednesday.
Pacing a 16-hit attack, Christy Warren collected a triple and a double. Colleen Platt hit a triple while Ashley Fagnano and Samantha Cavalier had doubles.
South Range 10, Lisbon 0
LISBON -- The Raiders (6-10) scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning to open an 8-0 lead.
Third-seeded Columbiana will play at South Range next Wednesday.
Lynn O'Connell doubled for South Range.
Girard 6, Warren JFK 4
GIRARD -- Sarah Britt had a triple and a double while Nicole Melfi and Aly Molinterno each tacked on a three-base hit for Indians (8-14).
Kelley Bondor and Morgon Tondo each doubled for Girard.
Girard will play at Newton Falls next Wednesday.
Champion 3, Badger 2
KINSMAN -- Champion scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to drop Badger.
Emily Hayes walked to start the inning for the Flashes, then Jessica Bova singled and Lauren Seafert reached on error. Heidi Ashcroft struck out the next batter, but was called for an illegal pitch and the runners advanced a base. Tara Shope followed with a two-run single to lift Champion.
Crestview 7, East Palestine 3
EAST FAIRFIELD -- Jess Sferra struck out 10 and walked just one to lead Crestview.
Caitlyn Crowell had two singles for the Rebels (14-8), who advanced to play Mooney next Wednesday at Crestview. Jen Harroff, Kelsey Ray and Nikki Walton each had a single and an RBI.
Chelsea Peterson had a single and an RBI for East Palestine.
