SECTIONAL BASEBALL Vukovic's hit gives McDonald 3-2 win



The Blue Devils edged Jackson-Milton to advance in the Division IV tourney.
McDONALD -- With two away in the bottom of the ninth inning, Corey Vukovic singled home Mike Van Dyke Tuesday as the McDonald High baseball team edged Jackson-Milton, 3-2, in a Division IV sectional game.
Van Dyke singled and stole second base before scoring the winning run.
It was the third time this season that the Blue Devils (5-8) had beaten their Inter-County League rival.
James Beedle and Keith Bixler each had two singles for the Blue Devils.
Zack Kosa paced the Bluejays (5-12) with a triple and two singles and Zack Tomaino hit a pair of singles.
McDonald travels to Mathews for second-round tournament next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Lowellville 6, Sebring 2
STRUTHERS -- Dan Bond collected three hits including a triple.
The Rockets (2-13) will play second-seeded Western Reserve at Cene Park Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Matt Wolfe tripled and Carl Inskeep doubled for the Rockets who collected 12 hits.
Anthony Corbett and Andrew Wilson hit doubles for the Trojans.
Lordstown 7, Christian 6
LORDSTOWN -- Max Gibson had three hits, including the game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh for Lordstown against Youngstown Christian.
Gibson drove in Brian Hionas to break a 6-all tie for the Red Devils (3-8). Zack Sutliff added two hits. Pitcher Kyle Schofer (1-4), who also had three hits, struck out 12 and walked three.
Steve Setnick had three hits, including a double, for Youngstown Christian (6-3).
