Springfield's Summers no-hits East Palestine, 1-0

Ursuline and Mooney won to advance in Division III.
EAST PALESTINE -- Luke Summers pitched a no-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks Monday as the Springfield High baseball team blanked East Palestine, 1-0, in a first-round game of the Division III sectional baseball tournament.
Only two East Palestine runners reached first base, both on errors. One of the runners was picked off, so Summers faced only 22 batters.
Springfield got the game's only run in the first inning. Melio Rios led off with a walk, stole second, was bunted to third by Mike Paes and scored on Brad Adams' RBI groundout.
In the next round, Springfield will play the winner of today's Lisbon-South Range game.
