Louis Irizarry pleads innocent, but held over

He remains jailed while his case is reviewed for a possible probation infraction.
COLUMBUS (AP) -- Two Ohio State football players pleaded innocent Monday to charges they assaulted a fellow student and took his wallet.
Louis Irizarry and Ira Guilford appeared separately in Franklin County Municipal Court before Judge James Green.
Each sophomore spent about a minute in the courtroom, walking in a side door and then standing with their backs to a wall. Attorneys entered the pleas for them.
Irizarry and Guilford are charged with felony robbery. They spent the weekend in the county jail.
Guilford was released Monday after paying a $25,000 bond.
Irizarry held
Irizarry remained in jail pending a hearing to determine if he had failed to meet the terms of probation from an earlier arrest for fighting.
Both have preliminary hearings set for May 11.
Coach Jim Tressel has suspended both players indefinitely. Ohio State athletic director Andy Geiger said Monday, "These guys are gone. They're done."
Kenneth Whitwell, 20, of Brecksville, reported that he was assaulted on campus Saturday at 3 a.m., according to police records.
Irizarry, 19, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound tight end from Youngstown, played in seven games, mostly on special teams last fall with the Buckeyes. He was expected to split time with starter Ryan Hamby this fall.
He pleaded guilty Oct. 29 to charges of assault, negligent assault and disorderly conduct after he was involved in a fight in a campus dormitory.
He spent three days in jail and was placed on probation.
Guilford, 18, a 6-0, 190-pound tailback from Hoboken, N.J., played in five games last year, rushing for 68 yards on 28 carries as a backup to Lydell Ross and Maurice Hall.
