Fitch eliminated in ninth inning

AUSTINTOWN -- The Ashtabula Lakeside High softball team rallied for a run in the bottom of the ninth inning Monday to snap a 3-3 tie and defeat Austintown Fitch, 4-3, in a first-round game of the Division I sectional tournament.
Lakeside advances to play at Boardman on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Megan Koniowsky had a triple, double and one RBI to lead Fitch (1-12).
Western Reserve 5,Jackson-Milton 3
BERLIN CENTER -- The Western Reserve High softball team got its first home run of the season in an Inter-County League game.
Freshman Macy Marra homered, singled and drove in two runs for the Blue Devils (12-6, 7-3 ICL). Leslie Razo hit a triple for Western Reserve.
Katie Harmon (7-4) threw a five-hitter with four strikeouts and two walks.
Jackson-Milton (11-10, 5-5) scored all its runs in the sixth inning, keyed by a two-run single by Kay Bruss.
South Range 4, Lowellville 0
NORTH LIMA -- Skye Walley pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts and helped her cause with two singles.
Nicole Keeling had two singles and two RBIs and Heather Stacey a double and single and one RBI, for South Range (5-8, 3-5 ICL).

WARREN -- The Irish (17-3, 5-1) clinched their first Steel Valley Conference championship.
Maureen Cearfoss (16-3) pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts.
Staci Ziobert tripled in a run to tie the score at 3, then put the Irish ahead as she scored in the fourth inning.
She also hit a two-out run scoring single in the fifth inning Alessandra Parry hit a pair of singles and stole two bases, while Jenna Vrable hit a double and scored three times.
Poland 15, Salem 0
POLAND -- Every player in the starting lineup plus three substitutes had at least one hit for the Bulldogs (15-3, 7-1) in the Metro Athletic Conference game.
Ashley Conger hit a triple, double and single while Steffi Graf hit a double and two singles, drove in three runs, scored three times and stole a base.
Campbell 19, Wilson 2
YOUNGSTOWN -- Kristin Grachanin (2-1) scattered five hits and struck out nine to pick up the win.
Deanna Black hit a double, single, drove in three runs and scored twice for the Red Devils (2-12). Delilah Benedis hit a two-run double and scored once.
The Red Devils sent 11 batters to the plate in the fourth inning and scored seven runs to put the game out of reach.

NEWTON FALLS -- Brittany McKee, Kelly Hudy and Corrie Gasser hit doubles for the Eagles (12-3, 9-2 Trumbull Athletic Conference).
Amanda Taylor (12-3) held the Tigers (11-3, 8-2) to one hit, striking out four.

CHAMPION -- The Golden Flashes (13-4, 9-2 TAC) scored all the runs they needed in the first inning.
Jaclyn Carpenter walked and Kasey Karr reached base on an error, sending Carpenter to third. Jessica Carpenter grounded out as Jaclyn Carpenter scored.
Emily Hayes doubled, scoring Karr. Hayes advanced to third on a passed ball, then Jessica Bova and Alyshia Brink walked to load the bases. A wild pitch scored Hayes and Bova scored on a ground out. Brink later scored on an error.
Lakeview 3, Brookfield 0
BROOKFIELD -- Starter Lindsay Whetzel and fifth-inning reliever Amy Welshhans combined to pitch a five-hitter for Lakeview.
Welshhans also had two bunt singles and one RBI for the Bulldogs (6-7, 5-6 TAC), while Chelsea Butler added a double and two singles.
