A new "Nova" documentary, "Battle Plan Under Fire" (8 p.m., PBS), examines the rapidly evolving science of war as the U.S. military scrambles to keep its high-tech advantage in the face of unconventional warfare. New electronic networks linking personnel thousands of miles apart, plus other emerging technologies, have given birth to a new doctrine of waging war called "transformation." It's a theory now being given trial-by-fire as this age of terrorism forces new ways of fighting back -- notably in Iraq.
Florence Henderson, forever a "TV mom" since "The Brady Bunch," is profiled on "Biography" (8 p.m. A & amp;E). Rearing her own children while the show was in production, she made frequent coast-to-coast trips to spend more time with them.
"The Guardian" (9 p.m., CBS) ends its third season with the main character becoming a new father, being fired from his job and taking a new job at a competing law firm. Simon Baker stars as Nick Fallin.
In another finale to a series ending its third season, "Scrubs" (9:30 p.m., NBC) features the wedding of Turk (Donald Faison) and Carla (Judy Reyes) in which the ceremony goes awry.
