Loyalty Day assembly
JEFFERSON -- The Veterans of Foreign Wars District Seven, Ashtabula County Council, Loyalty Day assembly is at 8 a.m. Monday at Jefferson Area High School, 125 S. Poplar St. The public is invited.
Aaron Stehura, a junior at Jefferson, District Seven first-place winner in the Voice of Democracy essay contest, and Zachary Dennis, a senior at Jefferson, male athlete of the year in District Seven, will be recognized. The Loyalty Day speaker is William Seagraves, judge advocate for the Ohio VFW.

Back in Italy
Army Spc. Jason E. Romesberg has returned to the 173rd Airborne Brigade in Vicenza, Italy, after completing a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Romesberg, a paratrooper, is the son of James E. Woofter of Cortland, and is a 1997 graduate of Lakeview High School, Cortland.
Support at Fallujah
Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class William C. Sennett, Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Andrew R. Mull and Navy Airmen David B. Norris Jr. and Allicia Price were assigned to the aircraft carrier USS George Washington and helped support Operation Vigilant Resolve, in which Marines closed all roads into Fallujah, Iraq, the site of the slayings of four United States civilian contractors and the mutilation of their bodies. Sennett, son of Teresa L. and Robert S. Sennett of Greenville, Pa., is a 2001 graduate of Reynolds High School of Greenville.
Mull, son of Lauraetta L. and William M. Mull of Berlin Center, is a 1989 graduate of Western Reserve High School, Berlin Center.
Norris is a son of Valerie Sue Wright of New Brighton, Pa., and David B. Norris Sr. of Ellwood City, Pa. Price, stepdaughter of Jessica L. and William E. Price Jr. of New Castle, Pa., is a 2003 graduate of Lawrence County Vocational Technical High School, New Castle.

Marine Corps Sgt. Keith A. Reitz, son of Pamela F. and Dan L. Reitz of Salem, was promoted to his current rank while serving with Marine Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron Three, Cherry Point, N.C. Reitz is a 2000 graduate of Salem Wesleyan Academy of Salem.

Battalion Soldier of Year
Army Spc. Ashley Hromyak, daughter of Ken and Debi Hromyak of Austintown, was named 2003 Soldier of the Year for the 30th Signal Battalion, assigned to the Army Signal Corps at Fort Shaftner, Hawaii. Hromyak, a 2002 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, works in the Army Pacific Command Center specializing in communications. Previously, she completed airborne and air assault training at Fort Benning, Ga.

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Russell J. Wilmes has graduated from the Aerospace Propulsion Apprentice (turboprop/shaft) Course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.
Wilmes is assigned to the 911th Maintenance Squadron, Pittsburgh. He is the son of Laurie A. and John L. Wilmes of New Castle, Pa., and is a 2003 graduate of Shenango High School, New Castle.
