PREP BASEBALL Ursuline slips past Chaney, 8-7 on Rohan's 2-run single in 8th



The Irish had to hold off the Cowboys in the bottom of the eighth to win.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Ursuline freshman Ed Rohan hit a two-run single in the top of the eighth inning to take the lead and the Irish baseball team hung on for an 8-7 win over Chaney Friday in a non-league baseball game.
The Cowboys scored one run in the bottom of the eighth and had a runner on second with two outs, but Ursuline pitcher Nick Panezich (2-0) got a strikeout to end the game.
Andrew Frasco had a triple for the Irish (10-10).
Adam Boris led Chaney (13-3) with four hits.
Wilson 8, South Range 5
YOUNGSTOWN -- Matt McBride and Thomas Mulligan each had two hits and two runs for Wilson, which took a 4-0 lead after two innings.
Marcus Philippi had two hits for Wilson (3-13) while Chris Truman and Jesse Bailey each added doubles.
Ben Detwiler had two hits, including a double, for South Range (11-6), while Greg Rohan added two hits and two RBIs.
Fitch 8, Howland 5
AUSTINTOWN -- Mike Eliseo had a two-run home run in the first inning and finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a stolen base for Fitch, which rallied from a 4-0 deficit.
John Mang and John Burnich each added two RBIs for the Falcons (12-3), who have won three straight.
Adam Solich had two RBIs for Howland (7-10).
Lowellville 9, Sebring 8
STRUTHERS -- Dustin Socie slammed a two-run single in the fifth inning to give Lowellville the lead over Sebring at Cene Park.
Socie finished with three singles for the Rockets, who posted their first win of the season after 13 losses.
Starter Luke Packner and second-inning reliever John Opincarne combined to pitch a four-hitter with seven strikeouts for Lowellville. Opincarne got the win.
McDonald 1, Jackson-Milton 0
NORTH JACKSON -- Cory Vukovic (2-3) threw a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts for the Blue Devils (4-8, 3-3 Inter-County League).
Mike Van Dyke hit a triple and James Beedle doubled for McDonald.
Springfield 5, Mineral Ridge 1
MINERAL RIDGE -- Brad Adams pitched a complete-game three hitter, striking out eight and walking one to lead Springfield.
Adams also had two hits, including a double, for the Tigers (9-7, 7-3 ICL), while Mike Paes added a double.
Brian Palmer had a double for Mineral Ridge (5-7, 4-3).
Salem 7, Campbell 4
SALEM -- Landon Heath and Travis Milliron each doubled as the Quakers (12-5) avenged a 10-6 setback at Campbell on April 22.
Anthony Zembillas had three hits for Campbell (11-6).
Cody Dillon went 4-for-4 for Salem which scored four times in the fifth to wipe out a 4-3 deficit.
Hubbard 14, Lakeview 4
HUBBARD -- In the Trumbull Athletic Conference game, the Eagles scored five runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth.
The Bulldogs had 10 hits but committed six errors.
