Family dinner honors Ruby jubilee
XAUSTINTOWN -- The Rev. and Mrs. Charles Ruby Sr., 201 Rosemont Ave., were honored during a family dinner April 3 in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hosts for the occasion were the honorees' children and their spouses, Charles Jr. and Pam Ruby of McDonald and the Rev. Carol and Jim Myers of Austintown.
The former Dorothy Bair and Mr. Ruby were married March 29, 1954, in Cumberland, Md.
Retiring in 1997, Mrs. Ruby was a private-duty certified nurse's assistant.
Mr. Ruby was a pastor with the Church of the Nazarene and retired in 1995. He was pastor at Barnesville, Minerva and Youngstown Central churches and associate pastor at New Covenant Worship Center in Boardman and Wickliffe Church of the Nazarene, which later became Grace Church of the Nazarene where he currently is associate pastor. He also retired in 1993 as a utility man with General Motors Corp. in Lordstown. He is a member of the United Auto Workers and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a mess and staff sergeant.
Mr. and Mrs. Ruby are members of Grace Church of the Nazarene and served as foster parents with Mahoning County Children's Services for some 25 years.
The family circle includes six grandchildren.
