Sportscaster Galeti sentenced for DUI
BEREA, Ohio (AP) -- Longtime Cleveland sportscaster Chuck Galeti has been sentenced to 15 days in jail after his third conviction for driving under the influence.
Galeti, 39, was a sports anchorman for WKYC-TV from 1992 until July. He later became a sports-talk host for WTAM-AM radio.
Berea Municipal Judge Mark Comstock on Friday also fined Galeti $1,000 and sentenced him to 55 days of electronically monitored house arrest and three years' probation. Galeti's driver's license was suspended for three years.
The maximum possible sentence was a year in jail.
Galeti, of Strongsville in suburban Cleveland, pleaded no contest in January and was convicted of drunken driving and possession of marijuana. Police in Strongsville say he left the scene after his car knocked down a mailbox and hit a telephone pole Aug. 26. He previously was a sports anchorman for WFMJ Channel 21 in Youngstown.
WTAM program director Ray Davis declined to comment.
