Wedding in July set by Miss Carney and John Abell

XPORTLAND, Maine -- The engagement of Rebecca Lynn Carney and John Erickson Abell, both of Portland, is being announced by their parents, Walter and Judy Carney of North Andover, Mass., and Jack and MaryEllen Abell, 6429 Ridgeview Ave., Austintown.
Miss Carney graduated from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, Mass., with a degree in biology. She is a second-year student at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, Biddeford, Maine.
Mr. Abell earned a degree in political science at Boston College. He is the marketing director for the Portland Pirates, an American Hockey League affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League
Woodfords Congregational Church will be the setting for the couple's afternoon wedding planned for July 17. A reception will follow at Harraseeket Inn, Freeport, Maine. Invitations will be extended for the ceremony and reception.
