Former area residents mark golden event

XROCKPORT, Texas -- Mr. and Mrs. Edward Centofante of Rockport, Texas, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary March 3 during a get-together in Clearwater, Fla., with Highway Patrol retirees.
The former Alma P. Lookabaugh, formerly of Struthers, and Mr. Centofante, formerly of Lowellville, were married March 3, 1954, in Youngstown.
Mr. Centofante retired in 1980 after 27 years of service with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. He was stationed in Canfield and with the North Zone Tact Squad in Austintown. He also worked in Columbus with the aviation section of the highway patrol.
The Centofantes moved to Rockport in 1981 and Mr. Centofante worked for 14 years for Air Logistics as a helicopter pilot to offshore oil rigs.
Mrs. Centofante is a homemaker.
Their daughter, Chief Master Sgt. Wanda Kennedy, who served in the U.S. Air Force, died in 1998.
