Parents announce Lowry-Basista engagement

XThe engagement of Rachel Lowry of Girard and George Basista Jr. of Brookfield is being announced by their parents.
The bride-elect is a daughter of Mary Ann Lowry, also of Girard, and the late Salvatore "Zeke" Lowry. The future groom is a son of Vicki Filipovich of Brookfield and George Basista Sr. of Boardman.
Miss Lowry is attending Youngstown State University and pursuing a degree in middle childhood education. She is employed as a clerk in a Youngstown law office.
Mr. Basista is employed as a home inspector with Bass Home Inspection in Mineral Ridge. He graduated from ETI Technical College in Niles, where he studied heating and cooling.
St. Rose Church in Girard will be the setting for the couple's wedding Aug. 7. They will exchange marriage vows during an open-church ceremony at 2 p.m. Invitations will be issued for an evening reception at The Embassy in Youngstown.
