MAHONING VALLEY Relay for Life fund-raisers scheduled

CANFIELD -- The Mahoning Valley American Cancer Society is accepting teams for the 2004 Relay for Life fund-raising events in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.
There are 14 relays planned this year, the first in Beeghly Center at Youngstown State University on April 16-17, said Al Stabilito, cancer society communications and advocacy director.
The relays are on Friday and Saturday, with most running from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Relay dates and locations are:
UMay 7-8: Austintown Fitch High School Stadium; Niles McKinley High School Stadium.
UMay 14-15: Boardman Center Middle School Stadium; Warren G. Harding High School, Mollenkopf Stadium, Warren.
UMay 21-22: Crestview High School football field, New Waterford; Liberty High School Stadium; Roosevelt Park, Campbell.
UJune 4-5: East Liverpool Mangano Memorial Track; Lakeview High School Stadium, Cortland.
UJune 11-12: Lordstown High School.
UJune 18-19: Sebring High School Stadium; Salem High School Reilly Stadium.
UJune 25-26: Columbiana County Fairgrounds, Lisbon.
Teams of 10 to 15 people raise donations before the event. During the event, at least one person from each team walks, runs or jogs around the track. Special ceremonies and activities are conducted for cancer survivors, Stabilito said.
