ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Ted Lilly won his fifth straight road decision and Eric Hinske stole home, leading Toronto. Lilly (7-4) didn't allow a run over six-plus innings in improving to 5-0 over his last seven starts away from SkyDome. Hinske stole home on the front end of a double steal during a two-run first as the Blue Jays sent the Devil Rays to only their third loss in 19 games. Josh Phelps homered for Toronto.
Yankees 11, Red Sox 3
NEW YORK -- Gary Sheffield had a three-run homer, Tony Clark hit a rare drive into the center-field bleachers and Javier Vazquez beat Boston for the first time. The Yankees opened a season-high 61/2-game lead over the Red Sox in the AL East. Vazquez (9-5) beat Derek Lowe (6-7) despite two homers from Johnny Damon and the 20th by David Ortiz, who tied teammate Manny Ramirez for the AL lead.
White Sox 6, Twins 2
MINNEAPOLIS -- Mark Buehrle pitched eight sharp innings to beat Minnesota once again, leading Chicago into first place in the AL Central. Buehrle (8-2) gave up eight hits and two runs while improving to 13-4 against the Twins in 18 career starts. Jose Valentin hit a solo home run and Juan Uribe added a two-run shot for the White Sox, who beat Carlos Silva (8-5). Corey Koskie homered for the Twins.
Royals 4, Orioles 3
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Desi Relaford hit a go-ahead RBI double in the sixth inning, and Kansas City snapped a five-game losing streak. Rookie Mike Wood (1-0) earned his first victory since coming over in the three-team trade last Thursday that sent Carlos Beltran to Houston. Shawn Camp pitched the ninth for his first major league save. Sidney Ponson (3-11) took his eighth straight loss.
Athletics 5, Angels 4
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Bobby Crosby hit a go-ahead two-run single in the seventh to help Mark Mulder win his eighth straight decision. Crosby, a rookie batting .327 with seven homers and 20 RBIs over his last 44 games, singled against Francisco Rodriguez to save Mulder (10-2), who beat Brendan Donnelly (1-1). Octavio Dotel pitched a perfect ninth for his first save in two opportunities with his new team.
Mariners 4, Rangers 3
SEATTLE -- Rich Aurilia hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning and Joel Pineiro won his third straight decision. The last-place Mariners broke a seven-game losing streak against the Rangers, who lost for only second time in 11 games. Trailing 3-1, the Mariners got a sacrifice fly from Bret Boone before Aurilia homered to beat Joaquin Benoit (2-3). Pineiro (4-8) pitched seven innings and struck out a season-high nine. Eddie Guardado got hit 15th save.

Phillies 17, Expos 7
PHILADELPHIA -- Bobby Abreu and David Bell homered and drove in three runs apiece, and Philadelphia had 17 hits. Jimmy Rollins also had three RBIs, while Placido Polanco homered and scored twice and pinch-hitter Tomas Perez added a two-run shot in the eighth. Bell, who hit for the cycle on Monday, scored three runs and had an RBI single in the third. Eric Milton (10-2) allowed seven runs on seven hits in five innings, but moved into a tie for the major league lead in wins. Shawn Hill (0-1) took the loss.
Mets 7, Reds 5
CINCINNATI -- Cliff Floyd hit two of New York's three homers and drove in four runs. Ty Wigginton added a two-run shot as the Mets beat Todd Van Poppel (3-3). Jae Seo (4-5) and four relievers held on against a Reds lineup missing Ken Griffey Jr. and Sean Casey. Griffey was a late scratch because of cramps in his left calf, but had a pinch single in the ninth. Casey, batting .352, is expected to miss the series with a strained right calf.
Marlins 5, Braves 4
ATLANTA -- Mike Lowell and Miguel Cabrera homered back-to-back and Florida overcame a shaky by Dontrelle Willis. Josias Manzanillo (1-1) pitched a season-high 22/3 innings for his first win in about 21/2 years, beating Mike Hampton (2-8). Manzanillo took over for Willis with two on and one out in the fifth, and retired Julio Franco and Andruw Jones. Armando Benitez got five outs for his 26th save in 28 tries.
Cubs 7, Astros 5
CHICAGO -- Craig Biggio dropped Moises Alou's flyball, allowing two runs to score in the seventh inning. After Carlos Beltran put Houston ahead 5-4 in the top of the seventh, Chicago came back against David Weathers (5-4) and Dan Miceli, who retired Sammy Sosa before Biggio's error. Francis Beltran (2-1) won despite giving up Carlos Beltran's homer. LaTroy Hawkins for his 11th save in 14 opportunities.
Padres 3, Diamondbacks 2
PHOENIX -- Randy Johnson reached 4,000 career strikeouts, but Arizona lost a franchise-record 11th straight game. The Big Unit struck out eight to join Nolan Ryan (5,714), Roger Clemens (4,200) and Steve Carlton (4,136) as the only pitchers to fan 4,000 batters. Khalil Greene homered off Johnson (9-6) in the eighth inning for the Padres, who won for the seventh time in eight games. Brian Sweeney (1-0) won in his first major league start after seven relief appearances. Trevor Hoffman got his 18th save.
Brewers 6, Rockies 3
DENVER -- Chad Moeller hit his first career grand slam and Chris Capuano pitched six strong innings for Milwaukee, which ended a nine-game losing streak in Colorado. The Brewers had nine hits and took advantage of nine walks by Colorado's pitchers -- Milwaukee didn't swing at a pitch until Lyle Overbay hit a sacrifice fly on the game's 18th pitch -- to win in Denver for the first time since Sept. 3, 2001. Capuano (3-3) beat Shawn Estes (8-4).
Dodgers 2, Giants 1
LOS ANGELES -- Jayson Werth tied the game with a homer and scored the go-ahead run on Paul Lo Duca's eighth-inning single. Werth, who tied it in the fifth with his fourth home run, started the eighth with a single off Jim Brower (5-5) and eventually scored on Lo Duca's two-out single off Felix Rodriguez to make a winner of Guillermo Mota (4-3). Eric Gagne got three outs for his 19th save, extending his major league for consecutive saves streak to 82.
